The BHS is a spring balanced sectional door motor.

The worm gear ensures that the operator is only mounted in the vertical position.

Motor overload safety factor = 4 x rated motor current, as the BHS starting current can reach these levels for short periods.

Manual operation
In BHS installations with a hand crank or hand chain, the door and the self-locking gear structure are always connected. The door will never fall if the spring breaks. In BHS installations with a door disconnect device, the door and the self-locking worm gear are disconnected during manual operation. In this case, the worm gear no longer supports the door and a spring safety brake is required.

The BHS drive unit is able to support the weight of the door when the spring breaks, preventing the door from falling. The holding capacity is the permissible load that the worm gear structure can withstand.
